During the summer I spend a lot of time in Newport, walking the Cliff Walk is an activity which I did, I do and do again with the children, the family or friends visiting. It is the most popular attraction of Newport, it is hard then it
The trail is interesting as it combines the natural beauty of the shoreline with the architectural history of the 18 century’s buildings.
The Cliff Walk starts in First beach and is 3,5 miles long, it ends at Reject Beach and it is approximately 2:30 walk. There is numerous points of access from Bellevue avenue. It is very accessible to anyone, in the last part however you have to scramble from rocks to rocks. So, even if this walk is very easy, don’t go there with flip flops. If the 2:30 trail seems too long it is possible to reduce the time and to stop at the Breakers Mansion for instance.
You walk and admire numerous Newport Mansions such as Astor Beechwood, Rosecliff, Marble House, The Breakers, Ochre Court, and Rough Point. The largest part of the Cliff Walk is paved and offer magnificent views.
First Beach is the best place to park if we do not want to go up to the end but you have to pay so the other option is to visit Breakers and then to park your car in the Breakers parking lot and start the Cliff Walk after the visit to First Beach.
